reach-4-11® stands for reach for eleven
In the satirical 1984 movie This is Spinal Tap[1], Nigel Tufnel formulated the idiomatic phrase “these go to eleven”, pointing to a Marshall amplifier whose volume knobs are marked from 0 to 11, instead of the usual 0 to 10. “It’s one louder, isn’t it !”
In common language, it translates in “it’s one more !” : taking it up to the next level, going beyond known boundaries, reaching outside of the comfort zone.
In essence, it aligns with the NLP presupposition that “the map is not the territory”.
So let’s explore together the territory outside of the map and discover what’s possible, leaving the comfort zone by tapping into conscious and unconscious resources to go one step further and reach for eleven, whether within a project, personally, or for the next role.
